We have finally entered the new millennium, and with it a whole new generation of gaming in general. A lot of things happened in the year 2000, including but not limited to the debut of Sony's PlayStation 2 (along with a bunch of launch titles such as 'Ridge Racer V' and 'Street Fighter EX3'), the release of more iconic titles such as 'Jet Set Radio' and 'Skies of Arcadia' on the Dreamcast, and continued support of the original PlayStation through titles such as 'Final Fantasy IX' and 'Mega Man X5'. Meanwhile, Dodge showcased a fully functioning concept car which would later become the basis for the ZB I Viper.

[Description (based in-game)]
The Dodge Viper street model underwent a full model change in 2003. However, the base for this new model, which was the Viper RT/10 Concept, was presented 2 years earlier in 2001. The GTS-R, which had been the RT/10 Concept's prototype, was also released one year before that, in 2000.

In other words, this new concept model Viper prototype was preceded by the development of the closed body GTS-R. This GTS-R had proved itself to be a significantly more competent competitor than had previously been expected by people in the world of GT car racing. Daimler-Chrysler Corporation at the time strongly desired to turn this newly developed concept model Viper into the undisputed leader among the top performance race cars of the world.

As for the specifications for the 2000 GTS-R concept car: an 8.0L V-10 engine loaded into a closed coupe with the same basic structure as its predecessor. At the time of its release, the engine had a street tuning level, limiting its power to 368 kW.

The name "Viper Competition Coupe" was bestowed upon the GTS-R competition model following its delivery in 2003.

Though it possesses an 8.3L unit, its maximum output is 412 kW, which was down by 103 kW from the previous 8L, 515 kW version. This comes as a result of it being optimized to meet race regulations, but at the same time, the vehicle's cornering, aerodynamics, and various other abilities were significantly enhanced. As a matter of fact, its performance is really neither better nor worse than the older version.
