Forging a Danish Inspired Axe Part 1
93In this video, we are forging an axe from a piece of mild steel and a piece of leaf spring 5160 steel for the blade of the axe. We are going for a Danish style. This is our first time forge welding so we do not have much experience. The mild steel was shaped then folded over to form the eye of the axe. The leaf spring piece was placed inside the fold of mild steel and heated to forge welding temperature. This is our first time forge welding so we do not have much experience. We did 2 welding heats and then continued to forge out the shape of the axe. We did notice that some spots were not completely forge welded, most of the axe was welded.
