1Annoying that it got delayed again but ultimately a win win scenario in my books overall if we get a better more polished game also reduces crunch on the devs and also just gives us a breathing room window for 2022 releases if Forspoken joins the amazing lineup we have coming in 2023 to match the great 2022 we've had already. Gaming EATIN GOOD!

Forspoken is an upcoming action role-playing video game developed by Luminous Productions and published by Square Enix. It is to be released on January 24, 2023 for Microsoft Windows and PlayStation 5.
The protagonist, Frey Holland (Ella Balinska) is a young woman who is transported from New York City to the fantasy world of Athia and uses magical powers to journey through it and survive in order to find her way home. Athia is under the tyrannical rule of the Tantas, which include Tanta Sila (Janina Gavankar) and Tanta Prave (Pollyanna McIntosh).[8] Other characters include Frey's sentient bracelet Cuff (Jonathan Cake), the archivist Johedy (Keala Settle), and Auden (Monica Barbaro).

Forspoken, one of the bigger PlayStation 5 console exclusives, has been delayed again. Announced initially during the PlayStation 5 reveal event in 2020 before the system’s release, Square Enix’s action role-playing game has moved out of its holiday window and will now release on January 24, 2023 on PC and PS5. It’s the third new release date for the game, as it was initially set to launch on May 24 of this year before being pushed again to October 11.
News also broke today about God of War: Ragnarok’s release date on November 9. Considering that God of War is also a major PlayStation exclusive releasing this holiday and how this delay was a “result of ongoing discussions with key partners,” it’s possible that the powers that be at Sony or Square Enix thought it was best to space out the releases and give PS5 owners a chance to breathe between huge adventures.
Forspoken is now closer to other big Square Enix titles set for next year, but its January release will likely give it more than enough breathing room, as Final Fantasy 16 is scheduled for summer 2023 and another entry in the Final Fantasy VII remake series set for a winter release. However, as was seen in February 2022, it might be in direct competition with a host of other games delayed out of 2022 and that are now set for early in the year, a situation that became a yearly tradition even before the global pandemic made the process of releasing video games that much more difficult.

Forspoken is the debut title for Luminous Productions. The company was originally assembled from employees working on Final Fantasy XV. Earlier in development, the game was known under the title Project Athia.[3] It is being developed to take advantage of the graphical capabilities of the PlayStation 5.[3] Technologies featured in the game include ray tracing for greatly enhanced lighting effects, and procedural generation for the creation of large-scale locations.[4][10] Initially set to be released on May 24, 2022, Square Enix delayed its release to October 11, 2022.[11]
The game's writing team includes Gary Whitta (who also serves as story team lead), Amy Hennig, Allison Rymer, and Todd Stashwick.[9][12] Bear McCreary and Garry Schyman are composing music for the game.[9] The game will be a PlayStation 5 console exclusive for two years.[13]
