Fort Sumter (PC Version) - Playthrough
A playthrough of the game Fort Sumter, published by GMT Games and designed by Mark Herman. The PC version was developed by Playdek.
This is a Card Driven Game (CDG) pitting one (vs. the AI) or two players (hotseat or online) against each other with one playing as the Unionist and the other as the Secessionist faction in the months leading up to the American Civil War. In this playthrough we play as the Unionist side.
Both players utilize the area control mechanic pioneered in Mark Herman's We The People game to attempt to control various "dimensions" of the crisis: via placement of tokens representing political capital. The four crisis dimensions are Political, Secession, Public Opinion, and Armaments. There are three rounds of play followed by a "Final Crisis" round which determines the game's winner. This is a fairly quick-playing and not overly complicated game that is the first of GMT Games' Lunchtime Series of quick-playing games.
The PC version of the game, developed by Playdek, is a faithful reproduction of GMT Games' boardgame. The PC version can be purchased on Steam while the boardgame version is available from GMT Games.
