The watch giant came up with a PDA for your wrist complete with a mini stylus...

and wired magazine along with many other reviewers were left drooling when they first saw it

But after getting the Abacus on their wrists, both reviewers and consumers were left disappointed with the noticeable weight (roughly 180 grams or 0.4 pounds),

less than two days of active battery life

and a screen that was widely considered too small and too dim

Priced at around $250 on release it just didn’t have the functionality to make up for all of that…being essentially just a combination of digital calendar, calculator and notepad abilities most cellphones at the time already had

So while an impressive feat of engineer and miniaturization The Fossil Abacus hit the market just as cell phones were starting to drive PDAs to extinction
