Launched in September 2021, Foundation is an acclaimed science-fiction series on Apple TV+ that is partially based on Isaac Asimov's Foundation collection of short stories. The show's premise is that mathematician Hari Seldon (Jared Harris), in the year 12067 EI (Era Imperial), foresees the demise of the Galactic Empire. He and genius Gaal Dornick (Lou Llobell) are exiled to the frontier world of Terminus after being accused of treachery. There, they intend to create the Foundation, a repository of human knowledge that Seldon believes would cut the Empire's dark period from 30,000 to 1,000 years.
