A quick note about the difference between the Japanese and English versions. In the Japanese version, the rank goes all the way up to S, while the English version only goes up to A (but starts at F instead of E), so no S rank is attainable in the English version of the game.

It took a lot of practice, but I finally got that A rank despite several huge mistakes along the way. Honestly, I think Carlos is the hardest of the 3 characters to get an A rank with. Mikhail is easy, and Nicholai is tougher to get to the end with, but if you survive with Nicholai you will almost be guaranteed an A rank thanks to the massive score manipulation with the knife.

Carlos can make it to the end no problem with plenty of healing remaining, ammo, etc, and still only get a B even with every hostage rescued and Bus Nemesis killed. Because of his unpredictable finishing results (thanks to the wacky critical system of the STI Eagle 6), Carlos is an incredibly frustrating character to play, as you can have a flawless performance and still fail to meet the A rank. This happened to me several times before I got this run down.
