"Frame Gride is a 1999 fantasy mecha fighting game by FromSoftware for the Dreamcast. Similar to FromSoftware's Armored Core series, the mecha in the game are heavily customizable. The game had a single-player mode, a local two-player mode, and an online two-player mode. The online features were discontinued in January 2001. While only released in Japan, Sega at one point planned to release the game in North America in the last quarter of 1999, then first quarter of 2000.

Story
In the year 700 of the Imperial Calendar, the whole empire was under war conditions due to Zolt's rebellion which was raised after the death of the Emperor Regilio. The fall of the empire was only a matter of time as Zolt occupied all territories of the other Emperor-electors except for Archbishop Milange. Milange decided to bestow the title of knight and legendary power upon a man as his last hope. The player takes the role of this man and pilots the giant magical robots known as Frame Gride to face the rebel forces utilizing an ancient power that has been passed down from ancient times.

Gameplay
Frame Gride is a mech-based one-on-one fighting game played from a behind, over-the-shoulder view. It also contains missions and RPG elements that link the fights together. Attacks are based on both weapons and hack-and-slash swordplay. The mech can also strafe, jump and fly for a short while."
