FREAKSHOW
5Freakshow was a poem I made quite awhile ago for school, but it has always stuck with me as one of, in my humble opinion, the best poems I've ever written. A poem that draws heavily on Alice in Wonderland, and themes of it being okay to just be weird.
Be weird. Yes. You. Whoever may be reading this, be weird in all that you are. Just be your own, weird self.

Dancing with the madness,
Painting our invisible canvas.
Up,
Down,
Racing all around,
Brain and thoughts scattered like broken glass.
Become humanity's freakshow.
Come now,
What’s the point?
Whose reality will they anoint?
Here’s the answer:
It’s the one who’s conformed to their viewpoint,
Now there’s no more truths to pinpoint.
Race,
Now follow me,
Let’s embrace the insanity,
Madness is our destiny.
Dive right down this rabbit hole,
Where we’re all just one broken soul,
This is our virtue we extol.
Now let’s become humanity’s freakshow.
This is our Wonderland,
Our tea parties we will expand,
For madness is in high demand.
The normals,
Oh, they misunderstand,
Sanity is contraband.
Now, look,
I’ll share with you a secret,
You’re mad, insane, completely bonkers,
But the truth is that all the best people are.
Now, join me and become humanity’s freakshow.
Left or right?
Does it matter?
In the end, we’ll just go madder,
And there you are, here’s your answer,
We wish we were as mad as a hatter.
But who’s to say,
Cause afterall,
We’re all mad here.
Our lies we will rehear,
Our truths we will mishear.
And now we’ve become humanity’s freakshow,
And successfully shattered the status quo.
This is humanity’s freakshow.
