This lesson from the Applied Accessibility section of freeCodeCamp, looks at the figure element. We learn that the figure element wraps around visual graphs and images and explains them. We learn that the figure element is always used together with the figcaption. We begin to understand that figcaption is used to describe visual representations to those using screen readers. The figcaption goes within the figure and we can combine the figcaption with other elements such as images. If we are describing a graph or chart, the caption text should explain what the findings indicate for use of those with visual impairments.
