This is the twenty-seventh mission of the Derelict campaign for Freespace 2. We must deal with the Shivan armada quickly. We don't know what their goals are, but they can't be good for the GTVA and they are driving straight into our core systems. Most of the Shivan capital ships have moved into Vega, but the SD Azathoth and some escorting vessels remain in Deneb. We must draw them out before they rejoin with the rest of the armada.

GTVI has possession of a Rakshasa class cruiser captured during the second Shivan incursion. Though long since stripped of its engines and weapons systems, its onboard computers are responding to a Shivan subspace signal. Our plan is to let the captured ship respond, thus luring the Shivans into a trap. An experimental Meson-powered beam cannon, the GTVX Gorgon, is being field deployed with the cruiser as bait. Though extremely powerful, the experimental testbed is not tough, and must be constantly protected. That's where we come in.
