Beat this with a 4m30s, just keeping the video up because why not. Once I get 4:1X it'll be funny to see how bad this was, my 4:30 isn't good either though.

Not good. I practiced this category a little bit on some 200-in-1 gameboy looking thing I got from walmart for like 5 bucks because this game just happened to be on there and I likely got a time 10-15 seconds faster. This was from my first set of attempts after nearly 2 years not playing on NES, so this is mostly a demonstration run, below average and very bad Pamela fights and really unlucky Jason on day 2 which led to me using Mark to cure Laura.

I thought 4:3x would be a good time when I got 5:01 awhile back, but now I think sub 4:20 would be a very good run. Previous record uses a route starting with Crissy that passes to Mark but I've never been able to find this seed. With Mark's starting position here you can get a route that's 2 seconds slower in Any% which is why I paused, and also because it's not an optimized route yet. I'll have to look into the Crissy one because if the buzzer goes off right away for her then it's almost definitely the correct seeding. Apparently another 1/256 (how it is in any%), but still, I somehow have never found it.

I made this category a long time ago but it was only added to the leaderboards a few years back. It's a very fun route, the goal is to collect the highest powerup from Pamela on each day, so you use the axe on day 1 to get the torch from her, sweater on day 2, pitchfork on day 3. I had these fights solid before but I messed them up pretty bad, which again is why I think I got a time below 4m30s doing "attempts" on the 200-in-1 Walmart gameboy looking thing that for some reason had Friday the 13th on it. My Pamela fights were solidly figured out but none of that worked here and the damage on day 2 from Jason was really bad.

Otherwise, I'm grinding for the Any% World Record which is 2m51s now by PGHGuitarGuy. It's a tight one to beat but I will with enough patience. I derusted with a 2m55s run shortly after this which came out of nowhere and lost 6 seconds total to a perfect run, but 3 seconds to my PB by the start of day 3 which had gone well minus one zombie spawn. So getting at least 2m52s at the moment is realistic which is surprising considering how long I haven't been playing. This is why the 2m51 and 2m54 are on the side, I was mainly trying to do any%, this is just a side category for fun but I would like to get it very optimized.

This run beats the previous record by 11 seconds, but the category is still far from optimized. I'd say I was getting there, I just have to get used to NES controls again and playing on a CRT.
