Friday the 13th Any% Speedrun in 2m52s (3rd)
2m52s733ms. Still 3rd place as 2nd place is a roughly a half second faster at 2m52s266ms, but I'm exactly 1 second off WR. Execution was solid, mostly just got bad luck. A weird zombie spawn at the end of day 3 cost a whole second. Hopefully I beat this soon, although with odds of 1/128 for this starting seed, the game won't always give you that luck, and then immediately the knife or key spawns badly and you have to do it all over again. It's a good run either way minus some of the zombie spawns, I'm pretty sure I would've tied or beaten WR slightly if I had good zombies on day 3. It's been a long time since I have.
Timelosses:
Day 1 -- 2s: Pretty good execution to the torch, got a 53 enter note cabin which nobody has done before, though barely 53, it can be faster by 0.3s, I lost 9 frames standing there before jumping to grab it, but at 60fps that passes very quickly. Being further left allows that to be possible, about where the last zombie was standing, but in general this is a risky strategy that usually results in the knife being behind you. Even the one I used here doesn't usually spawn well. I may just switch to this method regardless, or just depending on how I feel. There just isn't a lot you can do about that knife spawn.
Lost 1s to the choked WR run theres pace entering the cabin, barely 52 vs. barely 53. Yet I was ahead of record by 0.8s end of day 2 on the low 52 run. Was 1.2s ahead of my previous botched WR pace run (my previous upload) exiting the cabin to fight Jason for the first time, but I lost that and was even with that run and with WR. This is mostly because I had some slow throws, I was afraid I might've one cycled Jason because I've done that by mistake quite a few times. He lunged at me twice and I tried not to hit him too much, just got caught off guard a bit. The pattern he gave me the 3rd time would've made one cycling possible because the throws were bad enough to make him attack again. I also bled almost a second to a slow scroll after my 2nd day 1 encounter. Either way the fact that I ended up even after being ahead shows how much throws the throws/scroll cost time, was a second ahead this run but lost it where the choked run went properly. My jumping left to right on the 3rd fight also cost time, it should be barely any movement, it would've just been a tiny scroll even without it. Just not well handled encounters on day 1.
I also check for the correct cabin which record doesn't do and I lose about a half second to that. I likely will always check because it's not necessary for me to get record or 2:50, occasionally I don't.
Day 2 -- 0.5s: Zombie spawn and also happened to also be 0.5s behind my botched WR run which had a perfect day 2. If I didn't do an extra throw at Jason after the 2nd encounter this likely wouldn't have happened. I didn't have to do that. First spawn was also not the optimal rage mode one where he lunges twice, you have to adjust your throws to make one cycling him easier. Crissy also throws so fast that he can run off sometimes before doing a 2nd lunge, so usually those throws will be slowed down a little.
Day 3 -- 1s: Two zombie spawns, the second of which cost me near a second because of how it spawned, it was pretty bad. The first zombie spawn is common and doesn't lose much, but it's better if it tries to follow you from far away and you run right into Jason without having to kill a zombie until he spawns. This is also ideal for day 2 which I got here, minus that extra spawn before the last encounter.
Usually the thing will spawn in front of you in the woods and you just kill it, but it spawned at the end of the screen and I had to wait until it turned around and hit my torch on the ground. I did throw it early though, but barely missed. It just wasn't a good position for it to spawn either way and there went 2nd place and possibly record as well. I was still a half second ahead of WR entering the woods on day 3, so I think that final zombie spawn actually did cost it.
When I turned to collect the note on day 1, there's a glitch in the video where you can't see the turn for some reason. It wasn't frame perfect or anything though, none of my turns were and I didn't have any frame perfect cabin switches like my last 2:53 either, this stuff can add up to be a half second at least but there's no way to him them all perfectly at 60fps though I have had a number of runs where all my turns were frame perfect.
Either way if I put together everything, 2:49 is possible but would take a lot of attempts and I don't know if I'd go for it. I'm not sure what caused the video to lag there turning for the note, it's never happened in other recordings and I don't expect it to. Possibly OBS being overwhelmed by the stopping and start recording so frequently. The audio seems to be crackling at times as well which isn't usual.
