Ongoing development work, this time trying to fix the CD audio playback issue that is present when attempting to play Frogger 2 on "modern" Windows (well, anything from Vista onwards). Microsoft basically altered how the underlying MCI (Media Control Interface) lib operated, perhaps introducing a bug(?), which means that it can no longer notify your application when a track (or the CD) has reached its end. Which is a problem when your game relies on it. This issue is not limited to Frogger 2, of course. ANY pre-Vista software that relied on MCI notifications will be broken, or have undefined behaviour. Or glitching audio. Or all of the above.

In Frogger 2, this meant that CD audio tracks could not loop over (amongst other little issues) hence this attempt to take the work away from the broken MCI and into custom code on a separate worker thread. It's a work in progress. CD audio volume still appears to work and the pause/resume also continues from the point at which the audio was paused, too... rather than restarting the track from the beginning. This video shows the looping working, and that switching between audio tracks still works, too.

Again, this version has a few experimental tweaks - higher-res textures (in some places) and the UI elements still show distortion due to not yet fully supporting 16:9 modes (or other non 4:3 formats).

Currently in development using the original(ish) dev setup:
- VS97 (or VS2010 for this build)
- DirectX7 (yuck)

Work-in-progress, in collaboration with HighwayFrogs (HF). This non-commercial project aims to preserve and enhance the older game while enabling it to run on modern hardware.
