FromSoftware confirm Dark Souls servers are coming back
4It seems that the Dark Souls servers are indeed coming back, after some time spent offline, FromSoftware confirms.
The Dark Souls servers went offline some time ago to investigate a security issue in Dark Souls 2, 3 and Dark Souls: Remastered.
The security flaw enabled anyone with ill-intent to enable RCE, Remote Code Execution on a victim’s system.
A twitter user, SkeleMann, claimed the vulnerability could brick a PC, share your login info or even execute programs on your PC.
Since then, player versus player combat has been unavailable on Dark Souls titles, but recently FromSoftware have confirmed they aren’t closed for good.
The most recent update was from an email sent to PC Gamer saying: “We are currently in the process of restoring the online servers for the Dark Souls series on PC.”
The email continued: “We plan to restore online service for each game progressively, bringing back servers for Dark Souls 3 once we complete the necessary work to correct the problem.”
