Front Mission 4 takes place 6 years after the original Front Mission. Unlike Front Mission 3 and the remake for the original, there is only a single campaign.
This is being played in software mode to avoid a critical graphical issue with shadows turning into massive solid black and continually growing blobs. Yes, you can read about how you can fix the broken shadows but it doesn't actually work. There is no combination of settings that fixes it.

PS2 emulation tends to turn into a crapshoot when you try to upscale it. It is my least favorite console to emulate.

Notes
As with Front Mission 3, this game uses an intermission screen between missions and it's not shown until the end of this part because I use it as a stop/start point for recording.

The text is just as bad in 4:3.
