Delve into the development of Large Language Models (LLMs) in China as well as LLMs targeted for regional languages in Southeast Asia in this AI for Good webinar featuring two of world’s leading AI and Internet companies that will highlight their potential global impact. \n\nERNIE Bot, a knowledge-enhanced large language model (LLM), was first introduced in March 2023 and made fully available to the public by Baidu in August of the same year. By the close of 2023, ERNIE Bot had attracted over 100 million users. In presentations covering the latest advancements in ERNIE’s large AI models, Baidu’s experts will highlight the model’s features, capabilities, and performance, along with technological innovations that are pivotal to its development. ERNIE has recently been upgraded to version 4.0. Utilizing tens of thousands of processors and the integrated software and hardware optimization of PaddlePaddle, ERNIE 4.0 significantly enhances its capabilities in understanding, generation, reasoning, and memory. \n\nIn addition, LLMs which address the linguistic diversity of Southeast Asia (Sea) have also been gaining speed with the work of DAMO Academy of Alibaba Group, China’s e-commerce giant. SeaLLMs have been developed based on the Llama-2 model and enhanced through continued pre-training, expanding the vocabulary, incorporating specialized instruction, and fine-tuning for alignment, all of which are aimed at more effectively grasping the complexities of regional languages and bringing AI developments to new users across Asia. \n\nSpeakers:\n\nJun Zhang\nSenior Product Manager & TOC Member, OpenAtom Foundation\nBaidu\n\nLidong Bing\nDirector (Language Technology Lab, DAMO Academy)\nAlibaba Group\n\n\nThe AI for Good Global Summit is the leading action-oriented United Nations platform promoting AI to advance health, climate, gender, inclusive prosperity, sustainable infrastructure, and other global development priorities.
