A working smeltery is a good thing, an automated one is even better. This is my second movie about Tinkers Construct where I get deeper into smelting. To automate things I have some other mods in the FTB pack to help me.

There is a new version of this video, with a different approach and perhaps more explaining. A little more generic though:

I had three things on my requirement list for this build:
- Automated lava feed (the easy part).
- Automated input when there's a free slot in the Smeltery Controller.
- Automated output, both from Faucet and Casting Basin.

To demonstrate my solutions I built everything in a loop, sending the output back to be melted again. This is roughly my first working automated smeltery, hopefully I will develop it further and improve it.

I use transport pipes, gates and some RedNet components to help me. There are other ways to do most of the work, but the working principle would be roughly the same. I wanted to use the gates to control everything, but always got stuck in some position where I had to manually start the process again. So lots of room for improvements.

At first, I tried to use pipe wire for the input part, but never got it working, I don't know why ;) Also, I actually didn't need to put things in the diamond pipe to have it working exactly like this. Old habit I guess.
