FTB/Feed The Beast Tutorial Guide - How to Use And Make Rockwool With An Induction Smelter
over normal wool. First, it is made with machinery and all you will need is cobblestone. So you won't have to ever shear a sheep again just to decorate your house. Secondly, one piece of dye can dye 8 pieces of rockwool so you won't have to farm flowers and squid and stuff as much. Finally, any color of rockwool can be converted into any other color without having to bleach the wool first like you do with normal wool. As an example, if you have alot of blue wool left over from a project you can easily turn it into red wool so you don't have to store a massive amount of different colors.
I will show you how to make rockwool. It is made by cooking slag in a furnace. Slag is a by-product of the induction smelter. So the two machines you will need are the pulverizer and the induction smelter. The pulverizer and the induction smelter are easy to make but they do require MJ power to operate. I use electrical engines to power mine. Both machines require 4 MJ/t to operate so I have the electrical engine programmed to output 8 MJ/t. If you don't know how to program an electrical engine then I suggest you check out my tutorial "solar powered quarry via an electrical engine". At the start of that tutorial I show how to program an electrical engine.
Here is how my set up works. I feed cobblestone into my ore processor. The ore processor is programmed to turn the cobblestone into sand. I place the sand in the input chest of the slag machine. The sand gets converted into slag. The sand gets fed into the induction smelter. The induction smelter has two inputs. One input is sand and the other is pulverized silver from the pulverizer. When the induction smelter has enough raw materials it makes silver ingots and slag. The silver ingots get fed back into the pulverizer to be pulverized again and the slag goes to an output chest.
