Another awesome indie treasure got underway this week. FTL has been on my radar for a LONG time, so I was pleased when it was a popular community choice for me to stream next.
As is becoming so typical - it's another game with permadeath, brutal RNG, and the ability to name things. A staple for Tactical Thursday streams.
Despite the very busy interface, the game is remarkably intuitive. The simple MS paint, retro line-art style really works well. The tutorial is well put together, and explains what you need without giving away how brutal it gets. Tbh, you learn that pretty fast....
The first mission went quite well (I found out later it was a good first run). Lasted 2.5 hours, eventually got led into a trap with almost no fuel. Barely survived - and got pwned at the next encounter. Next run was over in 5 minutes, as if the Rebel Fleet catches you, you're boned.
3rd run is still ongoing. Lost one crew to infection in helping out an infected mine early on - which is a damn shame, as the rest of it went quite well.
Loving this game.
