Fully Restored 9 years old Thinkpad x260 (2016) VS NFS most wanted 2012 + screen capture - i5-6300U
9 years old as of 2024, small, but still plenty powerful, the x260 with a new OS installed and all drivers configured perfectly is still a workhorse machine that is capable of doing some meaningful work on.
NFS most wanted 2012 is not a very demanding game, but in addition to recording the game in 720p using AVC, the x260 is doing okay, not great. The game is playable even with the screen being recorded at the same time at low settings.
Keep in mind that:
1, this x260 didn't turn on a few days ago, granted, it's only the problem of a bad connector.
2, the GPU part of the die is not connected to a heatsink. If the Intel i5-6300U were to have a better heatsink, it can perform even better, but since this laptop is not really designed for gaming, the Intel HD Graphics 520 is running at estimated 653/1071=0.60 or 61% of its power.
3, Intel i5-6300U has only 2 cores, but is still powerful enough for most tasks that I need it to do. Keep in mind that this 9 years old laptop is much faster than some new sub $200 laptops that you can find today in Best buy. The build quality is so great that I have zero doubt that it will last 9 more years.
