The funeral of a soldier shot dead three days after his 20th birthday in Afghanistan has taken place today. Guardsman Jamie Shadrake, of the Reconnaissance Platoon, 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards, was killed when insurgents attacked a checkpoint in Helmand province on 17 August. Paying tribute following his death, he was described as an outstanding soldier.
