You might think "oh, those old companies didn't milk a franchise into the ground like they do now." You'd be very wrong, because if dozens of companies weren't ready to clone a game, the same company with a hit would pull an Atari and do the same thing over and over again while their competition innovated. There's a strange charm to some of these sequels, but often you're left wondering "why?"

There is both a lot of changes and not many changes at all. It's smoother, faster, and almost remixed. The bonus ship has changed to hijacking enemies for your wingmen. Otherwise, it's the same gameplay with the same look. I like it, although after the bonus stage I'm not entirely sure what I'm supposed to do there without already being a pro. I do think that was the aim; this was meant for players experienced with the earlier games, sort of like Mario 2. But even the game didn't know when the game over screen would come because, like spawning another ship if I had one, the game didn't know when I was "safe" to do so.
