Game Design: Dying Light: The Following: Checkpoints and Progression
Dying Light: The Following was voted on for me to take a look....and it gets off to a rough start. Most specifically in the game design element: because what it failed to understand is that a specific mechanic from the first game had a dire consequence this time around. I take you through an example of where the game added a new mechanic to the gameplay: and how a deadly combination of existing mechanics ended up creating a snowball effect that led to not only frustration, but really soured the opening game. Because it's easy to add content at times....but sometimes, you may not want to.
