It doesn't matter how or why; Steam's Cloud Sync screwed up and now you're out 20+ hours of game saves for your favorite title you've been grinding on.

If you kept you own local backups with something like Ludusavi? You have recourse - but what if you're not doing that?

Hidden away on the Steam web site is the answer ... well, might be the answer. Let's take a look.

Proton folders also often hold game saves and game configuration files you want access to.

It can be tricky finding these folders- I'll show you how to find the "secret" Windows folders for Steam games as well as how to find the game saves for your favorite titles.

Note: This is for standard "Steam" installs and standard "non-steam game" installs. It is not for Lutris, Wine, Bottles or any other method of installing a game.
