GameMaker Studio 2 Only subscription now - What's the catch?
YoYo has recently changed a lot of things around GameMaker Studio 2. One thing was to make it free to use for everybody with the restriction for no exports.
The newest changes come in form of a more streamlined 3 tier system which is subscription only. For newcomers this should be a good change because it becomes very cheap to export your game with only 8 dollars a month (most used Indie tier).
But what if you have baught a permanent/perpetual license? Well, in that case your license will be honored and nothing really changes for you. You can "upgrade" to a tier and once your subscription is over you still hold your old permanent/perpetual license. On the other hand if you are somebody who wants to own the software (export modules) for ever, well... you are out of luck here because this option is not possible any more.
Tldr: Easy 3 Tier system for a subscription, old licenses will be valid
