Every GameStop I've been in this summer seems short on inventory. Even common titles (FIFA 21 for instance) can prove hard to find in a GameStop.

I guess the reasons come down to the effects of a problem that started years ago - a shift to game subscription services and digital game purchases. At this point, the physical games that people may have sitting around are likely titles they plan to hold onto or they've already long gotten rid of them through eBay or Facebook Marketplace.

Without new inventory coming into their stores, how can GameStop possibly keep up?
