Gauntlet: Dark Legacy [PS2] - 23 - Ancient Tree
1Taking on Ancient Tree here. We get a respite from the lizardmen with the inclusion of treants for this stage. And I'll be honest.. kinda miss the lizardmen.
The stage itself is kinda straightforward. It has some backtracking for treasure and crystals after hitting buttons and levers, but it's not too bad. It's the best of the 'tree' stages, in my opinion. Has some Donkey Kong Country vibes.
We also trip out on psychedelic mushrooms and collect coins to unlock Tigress.
Also, at the end of the previous part, we got another visual upgrade for hitting level 40. The 'good' upgrades seem to be 'every other' for Valkyrie. Wizard was kinda nice every time. Here, the first one kinda sucked.. the second was amazing.. the third was meh.. and now this, which again is amazing.
Firstly.. PANTS! Holy shit, we finally got a decent pair of pants! I'd have rathered something a bit more armored, but I'll take it! Our right arm is now covered in scale armor, which is a twist I was not expecting at all.. and I like it. The shield got some more white detailing.. the white detailing on the boots is different at the top.. a third logo on the front skirt flap. ..and a new sword.
