π΅ GB Memory Cartridge - Menu
GBγ‘γ’γͺγ«γΌγγͺγγΈ (GB Memory Cartridge) is a specialized memory cartridge designed for the Game Boy, a handheld gaming console developed by Nintendo.
The cartridge was used as a way to lower the price of games, and to allowed companies to sell their games without having to order physical copies which could be costly depending on the chip supply at the time. It was also a safer option as it didn't mean comitting to a number of cartridges produced and then flopping at retail.
It was mainly Nintendo and some of their 2nd Party developers did make use of the service. Both GB and GBC games could be loaded onto the cartridge, making it especially useful for cross generational play, or obtaining games that were out of print.
The service operated in Japan for the GB Memory from March of 2000 until February of 2007.
