Ah! Marxist Robots! Karl would be so proud of you, Mr. GB. (I guess that's what you'd call the robot? I have no idea.) Though I don't think Karl Marx quite anticipated there would be this many explosions and power-ups. GB Rober is a take on Mega Man with a Game Boy Monochromatic art-style that aims to be an accessible, fun and sleek little package. Does it deliver? Well...

GB Rober suffers in a few key ways, and it might be a result of the engine, my computer, I'm not really sure. As soon as you destroy an enemy, the game has some micro stuttering that can be really harmful in a game that has semi-precise platforming. This was probably the most major point I'd take from the game, despite enjoying a TON of my time with it. It was simply unacceptable how often this relatively light-weight game was lagging. There are also issues with collision, confusion on how to even control the game (there is no tutorial to speak of, only a "Manual" that doesn't even speak on how the different "Hyper Modes" work).

With that said though, I had a ton of fun. Some of the platforming feels great because of all the movement options you're given, and the enemy types are super varied and feel fresh coming from someone who has played lots of Mega Man-type games as well. The bosses can be somewhat overly simplistic, and depending on where you're at in the game as well, can get pretty much instantly melted, but that almost fits perfectly in the spirit of Mega Man, so I'd say it's a success in that department as well. GB Rober is a very short game, much shorter than average, and you can complete it in about an hour or two depending on your skill level or even if you aren't very good there are a lot of ways to tailor the games difficulty to suit you. At 6.99 though, we would definitely recommend this game if you're a fan of the genre!
