[GD Level Showcase #11] Dreams III by KittenFrost
8Eleventh video :) Today, we take a look at a fresh level coming straight from the Magic section (like most of the levels I showcase). Enjoy!
~ Summary ~
So, this is a Harder-worthy art level. In short: this is great. It's not boring, the block design is good, the gameplay is fun, etc... You should play this masterpiece, honestly! Well done, KittenFrost!
~ Gameplay ~
The gameplay is amazing. The only downside would be the triple spikes at the end which I find quite harsh. Fortunately, I didn't die there, so it wasn't a problem for me, but in my opinion it's a bit too hard for a Harder 6★ level.
~ Decoration ~
To me, the decoration is flawless.
• The arts doesn't seem to match at first, but I think they actually work together because the level is (sort of) dream-themed (hence the name), and the arts really feel like you're going through someone's dream , with, for instance, way different environments, such as a colorful forest, a snowy area and a bunch of floating islands. They all look great, and I really like that.
• The block design is actually great and fits with the custom background, which is something quite rare in art levels: most of the time, the block design in art levels is just empty to not make them clash with the custom background. However, the block design was done more than correctly in this level and the two elements fit together really nicely.
• The decoration's quality stays consistent through the entirety of the level.
~ Coins ~
There's only one coin in this level, and to be honest, it's not that good. At 50%, you only need to hold to go up quite high (since you're a robot), and that's it. At least, there's an indication: at that precise point, an up-arrow accompanied with a question mark can be seen, making it easy to find out about the coin once you've seen the hint. This isn't harder than the normal route at all, and it's not really hidden... but, as I said, at least it has a hint for it, so it's not that bad.
