We sat down to talk about Gas Powered, Day 1, Tanks, Warplanes, Warships and more.

We sat down with Wargaming.net CEO Victor Kislyi in a boardroom of sorts to discuss their global expansion - the additions of new studios Gas Powered and Day 1 - and the evolution of their free-to-play online war games.

Speaking about Gas Powered Games and Chris Taylor, Kislyi, who has known Taylor as a fellow developer for many years, had the following to say about how the deal happened and what's next:

"I really hate that this handshake acquisition happened admidst all this public financial and heartbreaking kind of story. Because that's not the reason. We did not snatch and grasp him. It was a long term understanding that we probably should start working together."

"The project, whatever it is, that [Chris Taylor] is going to be making with his guys is obviously not for 35 people. It has to be huge, it has to have the same global appeal as World of Tanks and maybe even more, who knows? It has to be top notch quality in graphics, sound, playability, interface, everything."

Speaking of World of Warplanes and the recent changes made to the controls and interface, Kislyi detailed the vision for the game:

"It has to be like this. A 35 year-old guy comes home back from work and he has half an hour of free time... you know his kids go to sleep. He has to be able to download this wonderful looking game, install it, and kind of start flying and shooting other planes down in you know a couple of matches like 5, 10, 15 minutes - otherwise we lose him forever. Right now, after the latest big patch - we did like 2.5 prototypes on the side - and then chose the best one and incorporated that in World of Warplanes. And it worked. So right now it's very smooth and enjoyable. It's controlled with WASD and mouse - that's what that guy who comes home from work has - he doesn't have a joystick and he's not a professional pilot."

The third game in the Wargaming trifecta of war games is World of Warships, and Kislyi is already singing its praise:

"That's a beautiful game. Right now almost every week we have like friends and family internal company tests of that. The game is there. The biggest fear would be whether there will be rock, paper, scissors or not. Yes, it's there - Battleships, Cruisers, Destroyers, Torpedoes, Aircraft Carriers, spawning aircrafts, AA guns in all kind of shapes, little islands, canyons, fjords if you would, that all plays very well, very balanced - rock, paper, scissors. This kills this, this kills this, you need to cover this, and this one kills this, but this is not fast enough to get away - it's beautiful. You would think that's a slow game, you know what? Not so much."
