***FRAME RATE IN LOWER RIGHT HAND CORNER! -I chose this demonstration, because I think it does a good job of summing up how Gears of War 4 performs on PC, at launch. I picked a level that has periods of good frame rates and bad frame rates, and I picked the hardware I did, because it shows what the game can do on last generation mainstream hardware.

I am using an i5 4690K paired with an R9 380 4GB. I show Afterburner stats, at the end of the video, but I can tell you, now, the game used 3GB of VRAM, at a mix of High and Medium settings. As a side note, try to buy graphics cards with the most VRAM they offer, because the 2GB and 3GB cards are going to feel obsolete, very fast.

The game performs well enough that most people would be very happy. Even when the frame rate goes down into the 40's, the game is still playing mostly well. With that said, you can feel when the frame rate goes down, some of the time. (although, sometimes, you cannot)

The mix of High and Medium settings, shown here, is what the game recommended to me, based on the hardware it detected. (I turned off Motion Blur, so it said "custom," as a result)

For what it's worth, I have also used a 390X, at 1080p, with the settings that the game recommends for that card, and it chose a mix of settings that performed the same way. (including the frame rate drops)

From what I've seen, with an i5 and two of AMD's last gen GPU's, the game has selected settings that "mostly" get a 60fps experience, while piling on the eye candy. I think most people will be okay with that. If you want to never see the frame rate drop, you will have to play with the settings, to accomplish that. There are SEVERAL settings to dig through, and I have not come up with the "best" settings for SOLID 60fps, yet, but like I said, I think most people will be alright with the settings the game chooses for them.

I've tried the Dynamic Resolution option, and the game still has frame rate dips. Some people might feel that it helps, and maybe, with higher resolution monitors it will help, but at 1080p, I didn't get much performance benefit out of it.
