In this video we take a look at some more exotic shotgun ammunition from www.firequest.com. The 12 gauge Terminator Hollow point slug is a force to be reckoned with. The Terminator features a wave of birdshot pellets followed by a hollowed out lead slug. According to the packaging, the slug expands to nearly two inches in diameter as it drags through the ballistic gelatin. This creates a permanent cavity roughly the size of a softball!
During our test we found that the Terminator performed just as advertised. The pellets transferred energy into the block making a giant temporary cavity. The slug expanded just as we expected and created a softball sized cavity up until the four inch mark. A permanent cavity of roughly a half of an inch followed the slug as it continued out the entire sixteen inch block.
Overall the Terminator proved to be extremely effective. The slug would face little resistance against any soft target, and the birdshot just adds to the damage. Although this ammunition comes in at a steep retail price of five dollars a round, I would still give it my recommendation for defensive use.
