In this video we test the Monolit 28 steel shotgun slug made by DDupleks. This slug features a lathe made design that enables the projectile to penetrate large amounts of brush all while maintaining its original trajectory. The Monolit 28 is the low recoil version of the Monolit 32. The slug is meant to be used in semiautomatic shotguns and can be fired from almost all bore sizes.

We tested the Monolit 28 by shooting it through a chronograph and at a block of synthetic ballistic gelatin made by clearballistics.com. We fired from roughly 15 feet and found that the slug was traveling at roughly 1527 feet per second. To test the penetrative powers of the Monolit 28 we placed four inches of pressure treated wood in its path.

Surprisingly the slug had no issue punching straight through the would set up. The exit of the slug caused a wave of wooden shrapnel to pepper the front of the ballistic gelatin. The slug did not deviate from its original path as it traveled between the block and the wood.

Once inside the block the slug pushed through the gelatin with ease. The temporary cavities were measured at a minimal three inches. The slug's flight path through the gelatin deviated roughly an inch from its entry wound. The slug punched through the sixteen inch block and continued on into the desert.
