Gems of War - E12 teams (EP64) - Noob Corner V - Centuragon Abuse Without Zuul
Hello young warrior, and welcome back to my E12 series. I'm sure by now you have heard about the very overpowered Epic Glory troop this week. I figured there could be some use to show how to use this troop without Zuul'Goth, who might be still out of reach for you. Let's go!
In the tank position we use this new troop "Centuragon." While it may seem little bit risky to use your main mana generator in the first slot, let's me explain why it is somewhat good idea. Centuragon has 10% chance to devour a random Enemy (+10% for each Wildcard on the board) and then he converts all Skulls to (x2) Wildcards. Now, if your global stats aren't high enough to make significant skull damage, that random Devour will bump up your attack to close even level with AI. This will speed up battle durations. As your global HP stats probably aren't high enough either, that Devour will increase your HP aswell. But what if that devour doesn't happen? Your main generator is in vulnerably position to get killed. This is when your hero steps up in the play.
In the 2nd position we use Warden hero with Pridelands legendary weapon "Rope Dart." I know you might be very tempted to use the new Elementalist class here but hear me out. When you match your first 4/5 gem matches, those will trigger Scylla's (in 3rd position) 3rd trait and conjure a Bonestorm. This Bonestorm will help your mana generation BUT it will also create chances for the AI to do skull damage. With Elementalist your are not guaranteed to Entangle the top enemy. With Warden (or some other Root Trap talent class) the top enemy will start entangled, and this will help significantly to get things going without fear of getting skulled to death. Warden also has other useful talents in the tree, Hunter's Mark for example which again speed up battles. Rope Dart is very handy paired with Centuragon. The weapon eliminates all Armor from an Enemy and deals [Magic + 3] damage and then pull them to first position. Weapon upgrades also destroy three random red gems, what gain mana to Centuragon and it also has "Quick" upgrade which gives you automatic extra turn (unless frozen) and it will also Entangle the targeted enemy, which will be pulled in front, entangled. Super handy!
In the 3rd position we use Legendary troop from Blackhawk, Enter "Scylla". She deals [Magic + 8] damage to the last enemy and there is a 25% chance to kill them. She also Submerges all other allies which is nice against AOE spell damage. We aren't using Scylla for her spell cast though, we are using her because of her 3rd trait, which create a Bonestorm on 4 or 5 Gem matches like mentioned earlier. This trait will ensure there will almost always be enough skulls on the board what your Centuragon can convert to Wildcards and keep the loop going.
4th slot goes to Leprechaun, who must be fully traited in order to get Empowered trait unlocked so that you can kickstart the match by casting him and generate mana to your Centuragon.
One thing though, make sure you don't have to fight lot of troops who are Impervious or are Immune to Entangle. Those enemy traits can be harmful to you.
Deck mechanics:
Cast Leprechaun.
If Centuragon doesn't fill up. match brown/red gems and possible extra turns to get Centuragon loaded.
Make sure you have alignment with Centuragon and start looping.
Use Rope Dart to rip Armor from enemies.
Maintain the loop.
