Generation Zero (Xbox One) - Gameplay
Welcome to Game Play. A series, of sorts, where I check out various video games and share the pure gameplay experience with you.
Today we're taking a look at Generation Zero on the Xbox One.
My immediate impressions so far:
Generation Zero is an open-world survival game set in Sweden 1989. At first, the game seems awesome but it has a few design elements that may hinder your experience. Generation Zerio is designed with co-op in mind, which is great for groups of friends who regularly play together. Playing it solo, however, might prove too much of a hassle unless you lower the difficulty setting to Adventure (Easy). Playing on Skirmish (Normal) is bordering on unplayable and worst of all: neither fun nor entertaining. The robots are extremely aware and can spot you at long distances, which makes stealth troublesome, and they can hit you with great precision and effectively end your life in a matter of seconds. Playing the game on Adventure certainly creates a much-needed balance and makes the game enjoyable. Don't expect a great story or storytelling, as the world, so far, is empty of NPC's other than the enemy robots. In GZ, you mainly create your own story, but the game do have both missions and narratives you can follow.
Only purchase this game if you're looking for a survival game with your expectations set to low. The developers are continuing to update the game, however, and for now I am ejoying it for what it is but don't expect too much or you might get disappointed.
The game was recorded directly on the console to an external HDD. No postwork has been done.
Note: the game looks much better on the Xbox One X than what this video showcases, but for some reason I can't record in 4K 60fps like before. It will only record in 1080p at 30fps. Hopefully, Xbox will fix it in time.
