Generative AI and jobs: A global analysis of potential effects on job quantity and quality
Our new webinar series “AI & Work”, curated by the International Labour Union (ILO), a United Nations agency, kicks off with a presentation of a global ILO study which analyses the potential exposure of occupations and tasks to Generative AI, and the possible implications of such exposure for job quantity and quality. It estimates task-level scores and then models potential employment effects at the global level as well as by country income group, highlighting the profile of those most affected. The study finds that clerical work is highly exposed to the technology and at risk of automation. Managers, professionals and associate professionals, are likely to see their jobs transformed as only some tasks can be automated. Nevertheless, these positions will transform, with likely consequences for job quality. The study discusses the different policy options to address these challenges. \n\nSpeakers: \nJanine Berg, Senior Economist, International Labour Organization (ILO): Janine Berg is a senior economist with the International Labour Organization in Geneva, Switzerland.
