Gengar's Creep Show (Revamped) - Pokémon TCG Live Online Matches #58
I'm gonna take you back to the past and revisit one of my favorite custom decks I've put together in Pokémon TCG Online. The original deck was titled "Creepy Shuriken", featuring the Water Shuriken Ability of the Greninja from the XY base set, which allows you to discard a Water Energy from hand to place 3 damage counters on any opposing Pokémon. This combined well in the same turn with BREAKthrough's Gengar, whose Creep Show attack has the effect of Knocking Out the opponent's Active Pokémon if it has 3 or more damage counters on it. As you can see, this combined to form a one-two punch effect of KOing any opposing Pokémon each and every turn.
However, with the recent 2017 Standard format rotation, only cards from the Primal Clash expansion and above are now permitted for Standard, and I like the challenge of readjusting my favorite decks to remain Standard. So Creepy Shuriken is now being redubbed Creepy Light, as Gengar now finds itself working with a new "partner in crime", that being Ampharos from Steam Siege. Ampharos' Ability, Shocking Light, works quite similar to Greninja's Water Shuriken: once per turn, Shocking Light allows you to place 3 damage counters on an opponent's Pokémon-EX. Match this with a helpful supply of Lysandre cards to force an opposing Benched Pokémon to the Active spot, and you can render any opposing Pokémon-EX susceptible to a one-two punch KO from Gengar's Creep Show! Let's check out the strategy in the heat of the action!
