Having a variety of animals on a homestead can bring numerous benefits and play crucial roles in maintaining a sustainable and productive environment.

Since animals play a vital role in nutrient cycling on the homestead, having a variety of sources will give your compost more micronutrients.

Rotational grazing and free ranging can reduce invaders on your homestead. Some animals can help manage pests and weeds on the homestead. Eating insects, slugs, and other pests that can damage crops. Animals of all sizes eat different plants- controlling brush and unwanted vegetation in pasture areas.
