Gex 2 Request Playthrough | Part 1: Return to the Media Dimension
One Gex game down, two to go. Now we move onto the second game in The Gex Trilogy, Gex 2: Enter the Gecko.
Gex: Enter the Gecko was released for the PS1, N64, PC and Game Boy Color in 1998/1999 for North America, Europe and Japan respectively. I'm surprised it got a port on the Game Boy Color.
As for the story, it's set two years after the first game. Gex retired and lives in solitude. But then his life gets turned upside down when government agents appear. Rez has returned and they need Gex's help to take him down. He says no and they abduct him. After an interrogation, Gex is willing to take the job provided he is compensated. The agents do so and as he gets on with his mission, he meets with another agent, Agent Xtra, who whises him luck.
This game plays similarly to Super Mario 64 where you need to collect remotes in order to proceed further. There are three kinds of remotes. Red remotes are obtained in order to unlock new areas. Gold remotes are found completing mini games or boss battles. Silver remotes are obtained in the many media worlds & after collecting 120 of each world's items. It becomes a collect-a-thon but less annoying. Because once you obtain the remote for the 120 items, you don't have to collect them again, aside from extra lives.
Regardless though, we're going to be in for a ride. We tackle Out of Toon, Smellraiser, Aztec 2 Step & Gilligex Isle. We move onto the next set of levels in Part 2.
