Jin, a skilled warrior, encounters a grieving man near a broken statue. The man initially warns Jin to stay away, mistaking him for a Mongol, but upon realizing Jin's true identity, he shares his story. The broken statue was created by his late father, Master Izo, a renowned sculptor. The man reveals that the statue was defaced by the Mongols, who also killed his father. Determined to restore his father's work, the man explains that the necessary tools are held in his father's house, now occupied by the Mongols. Jin volunteers to retrieve the tools and seek vengeance for Master Izo's death.
Jin embarks on a perilous journey to a nearby residence, where he confronts and eliminates the Mongol occupants. To his surprise, Jin discovers Master Izo alive and diligently sculpting another statue. Jin informs Master Izo that his son believes him to be dead and urges him to reunite with his grieving child. However, Master Izo reveals that he was spared by a Mongol general who admired his talent and requested a statue of Kublai Khan. Devoted to his craft, Master Izo chose to stay and continue his work on the Mongol statues, refusing Jin's invitation.
Reluctantly, Master Izo agrees to gather his tools and accompany Jin after the latter firmly insists. Returning to the broken statue, Jin and Master Izo engage in a fierce battle against the Mongols surrounding it. Jin emerges victorious, but the moment is bittersweet as Master Izo catches sight of his deceased son, who had valiantly fought to protect the statue and his father's legacy. Overwhelmed with grief, Master Izo mourns his son's loss while Jin assures him that he died defending something meaningful.
