Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint was released on October 4 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft windows. Developed by Ubisoft Paris and published by Ubisoft the game is an online tactical shooter set in an open world environment called Auroa (A fictional pacific ocean island). The Player controls Lieutenant Colonel Anthony "Nomad" Perryman, a special forces operative sent to the island to investigate a series of disturbances involving Skell Technology, a military contractor based on Auroa. The game also features main antagonist former Ghost Cole D. Walker (Jon Bernthal), Breakpoint is also the direct narrative sequel to Ghost Recon Wildlands.
Breakpoint also made a lot of changes, most were based on community feedback. Four different character classes were added (Medic, Assault, Panther and Sharpshooter) with more coming with post-launch updates. The player is free to have all classes unlocked and can even switch between them. New gadgets have been added to help with the player with different scenario's. For example a blow torch for cutting through fences or a rocket launcher to help with drones or tougher enemies. Players can also pick up corpses to carry away and also teammates so they can be revived in a safer location.
Survival is a much bigger focus in the game as enemies are now more numerous, have more archetypes, will respond more realistically to player actions and also have access to the same weapons that the player has as well as utilizing drones to help search and use in combat. The player also needs to monitor hunger, hydration and fatigue to avoid getting exhausted sometimes limiting what the player can do, minor injuries will heal over time but serious injuries will have to be tended to as the player will experience limping, loss of accuracy etc. Players can also set up camps known as a "Bivouac" to heal, gain tempory buffs, craft items or change their class.
Along with new survival aspects, breakpoint also features dialogue choices, however, these will not impact the main storyline. The game also features a fully competitive multiplayer mode called Ghost War. The year one pass was also released with contains more post-launch content including two DLC chapters (Deep State and Transcendence) and also a terminator themed crossover.
