The Gibson and the Reverse Manhattan are quirky classics that you should know, today I pair them with quirky watches too!

The Gibson is of course a mid-century classic. Somehow to me it calls to mind the Man in the Grey Flannel Suit, it's Cary Grant in North by North West. It's a very sober intoxicant, suave, hip, slightly adjacent to the norm. Of course, it's really just a Martini garnished with a pickled onion, but I'd keep the thing mid century and lean into the gin and away from the vermouth.

Gibson
.5 oz. -or- 15 ml. Dry Vermouth
2.5 oz. -or- 75 ml. London Dry Gin
2 dashes orange bitters
stir & Strain
Garnish with pickled onion

The Reverse Manhattan favors the Italian vermouth over it's American rye, and so choice of vermouth here is absolutely key. While a Antica Formula will yield a sweeter more mellow vanilla forward profile, I strongly prefer Pun e Mez here with it's spicy orange notes.

Reverse Manhattan
2 oz. -or- 60 ml. Punt e Mez Sweet Vermouth
1 oz. -or- 30 ml. Rye
2 dashes Angostura Bitters
Stir & Strain
Garnish with Maraschino Cherries
