The broadcaster was informed of the ill fate of her loved one by her sister, Sally-Ann Roberts, who called to deliver the news of their longtime family friend, Eric Paulsen's, death just as the TV personality was heading out to attend Taylor Swift's Eras Tour show with her wife and goddaughter in New Orleans.

"Unfortunately, right before we left for the concert, my sister Sally-Ann called to let me know that a dear friend, a dear family friend, Eric Paulsen had passed away from cancer," she said. The deceased succumbed to the disease at the age of 74.
