Some fast recap! GNOME Shell 3.34 added support for horizontal workspaces, and in fact there is an official extension that utilize that. I got a demo here:

So I opened an issue to Workspaces to Dock extension to use the native functionality, and now it is fixed and closed :))

The extension developer hasn't time to keep on working on that, but this extension, or some extension like it (I'd prefer something simpler!), it has huge huge potential, so if you have time and skills, please fork it and help it to stay alive and awesome!!
