The Magic: The Gathering Banned and Restriction list notes all the cards removed or limited in competitive play. It has been around since the first tournament of MTG and continues to define the competitive scene to this day. Many cards have found themselves banned, restricted, and later removed throughout the history of MTG.. and this series examines that history.
In this video, Nizzahon examines some of the first cards ever to be banned and restricted in competitive Magic: The Gathering. With 1994 being a year full of powerful cards being banned and restricted, 1995 cooled things down a bit. Wizards of the Coast learned from their mistakes and printed much less powerful cards through out sets like Ice Age. Yet with the advent of Formats in competitive play, plenty of cards found themselves at the mercy of the ban hammer. Chief among them were powerhouses like Balance and Fork, some still holding the ban title to this day.
