Cedric is a real punching bag. He's heavy like you wouldn't believe and can't be stunned, but he'll stay staggered for ages (even more so if you hit him with Burn) so you can basically roll your face across the controller to beat him, a technique that's normally exclusive to Sophie players but for this one boss the rest of us get to know what it's like to play a good character.

When you input Guard, A-Arte, and an arte shortcut at the same time when an arte is about to end, Asbel can use B-Artes without drawing his sword first. The "skipping" refers to the fact that these B-Artes take the place of an A-Arte as far as the arte tree is concerned, meaning you can use it after a 2CC A-Arte and "skip" to the 4CC A-Arte. It's possible to use even after a 1CC arte or while idling. You can also perform multiple arte skips after each other.
This opens Asbel up considerably and makes him very fun to play, but the downside is that the input requires great timing and practice in order to use it consistently.
