After a bit of a break, Free Play Friday is back this week with Distant Worlds: Universe. One of the deeper, more intimidating space strategy games available for the PC. The game is not particularly hard, but given the number of systems that it juggles at the same time while you manage a space empire, it is still very intricate and complex. Thus, it is much more of a Grand Strategy game in the vein of Europa Universalis or the soon to be released Stellaris than a 4X game in the vein of Master of Orion or Sword of the Stars.

I had originally recorded a video from a save I was playing in the late early game, but in order to better help people wrap their head around what I was talking about, I decided to pivot and go with a recording from a fresh save and work from the ground up.
