Grandma's Cookbook - Smothered Steak
Recipe as written:
About 1 1/2 lbs. bottom round steak. Put into deep pan, salt to suit taste. Slice 3 good size onions. Arrange on steak, cover over well. Then 3 good sized peppers, remove seeds and cut into strips. Arrange over the onions. If you do not have the green peppers get a jar or can of pimentoes. Then over all pour a large size can of tomatoes. Cook on top of stove or can be cooked in the oven. Takes about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Cover pan, be sure it is large enough, and watch that meat does not stick to bottom of pan. Insert fork under meat occasionally.
Good with plain boiled potatoes.
